Description

MOF Surf Experience Day Hits Newport Beach.

On June 13, 2009 The Newport Beach, California installment for Mauli Ola Foundation's Surf Experience Day was a huge success, with the maximum amount of participants taking part in the event.

Sponsors included Flexfit, Ambry Genetics, Volcom, Chronic Tacos, the Mint Fine Art and Newport Surf Camps for the third year in a row.

Professional surfers Gavin Beschen, Shawn Barney Barron, Jeff Booth and Andrew Doheny provided instruction and guidance to the sixteen young people living with Cystic Fibrosis who came out for a day of surfing in the therapeutic sea air. At the start of the event, certified genetic counselor Brissa Martin from Ambry Genetics gave a brief introduction about Cystic Fibrosis and recommended precautions to the surfing instructors in order to ensure a safe and fun filled experience for the kids.
After some instruction on the sand, along with warm up exercises, students headed off into the one to three foot surf with  pro-surfing instructors by their side. The crowd was packed with family members, friends and supporters who cheered on the young novice surfers.

At one point I saw five kids up on one wave. It was a fantastic time, exclaimed James Dunlop, Founder of the Mauli Ola Foundation.

All of the action was captured by Fuel TV, who sent a film crew down to cover the festivities for their Weekly Update show.  Flexfit provided customized Mauli Ola hats to all participants, while Chronic Tacos provided the refreshments and Volcom gave out goodie bags to attendees.

According to Dunlop, Smiles were abundant throughout the day. It was another successful event!
