MOF Gets Local Support at Laguna Beach...

18 July 2009

MOF Gets Local Support at Laguna Beach Surf Event.

Mauli Ola Foundation's latest Surf Experience Day to help young people living with Cystic Fibrosis got huge local support in Laguna Beach, California on July 18, 2009. Pro surf instructors and Laguna Beach natives, Jeff Booth and Steven Chew were especially proud to lend their surfing expertise, as they drew a ton of local support for a worthy cause in their hometown.

Young people with Cystic Fibrosis were given the opportunity to learn to surf in a beautiful setting while breathing in saline air which is so beneficial for their lungs. The participating young attendees and their families were treated to a special demonstration given by Kala Alexander who flew in from the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii to be a featured surfing instructor at MOF's Surf Experience Day in Laguna Beach. Alexander put on an awesome presentation, paddling out in his new Channel Islands Stand Up Paddle to do a stand-up paddle demonstration for all of the families.

For his part, Steven Chew, former national team member from Laguna Beach Surf School also put on a great demonstration of surf instruction with his student, 5 year old Alexis.

As title sponsor for Mauli Ola Foundation's ongoing Surf Experience Days, Flexfit provided custom embroidered hats. Adolfo's Mexican Food served up delicious catering, while Billabong came through with rash guards, T-shirts and backpacks. Other sponsors included Ambry Genetics, A-Med and Slidawg Surf Camp.
