1 May 2010

Description

Flexfit is excited to take part in Mauli Ola Foundation’s 2010 nationwide tour of Surf Experience Days, to benefit the health of children and young adults who are living with Cystic Fibrosis. The first stop of the 2010 nationwide tour of Surf Experience Days is taking place on May 1st, 2010 amidst the windswept bluffs and high-tide shoreline of San Onofre State Beach in San Clemente, California.

The San Onofre MOF Surf Experience Day will be filled with some amazing guest surfing instructors. Pro-Surfing legend Buttons Kaluhiokalani is making the trip from his native Hawaii to San Onofre State Beach to teach some of his signature moves for navigating the waves. With his unpredictable and spontaneous surfing style, Buttons is sure to bring an air of excitement to the day’s festivities!

Three-time U.S. longboarding champion, Josh Baxter, will host the San Onofre Surf Experience Day event along with Summer Soul Surf Camp, San Onofre’s exclusive and premier surf camp. Mixed martial arts fighter, Nissen Osterneck, will also be in attendance to help with surfing instruction.

As a national sponsor, Flexfit is contributing a financial donation along with 2500 custom embroidered MOF hats (Premium Fitted 210 and Pro-style Wool ) to be handed out to professional athletes, all kids in attendance and to their families at each stop along this nationwide Surf Experience Day tour.

Fellow national sponsors include Ambry Genetics and medical supply company, A-Med Healthcare. Other MOF sponsors include: Volcom, Skull Candy, Etnies Shoes, Hansen’s natural beverages and GoPro wearable digital cameras.

Mauli Ola Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing young CF patients with the natural healing benefits associated with surfing. Studies suggest a direct correlation between regular exposure to the saline properties found in ocean air and a significant decrease in symptoms associated with Cystic Fibrosis. In addition, surfing provides great exercise and a morale boost to young people living with this hereditary disease.

“After discovering the natural healing effect that saline has on the lungs of CF patients, I knew that we had to get as many of these kids as possible out into the ocean and surfing, expressed James Dunlop, founder of Mauli Ola Foundation.

“Our mission is to have as many of these Surf Experience Days for kids as we can, all across the United States, and to create an environment where kids can just be kids and forget about their illness.”

Following the San Onofre MOF Surf Experience Day event, attendees, guest surf instructors, volunteers, sponsors and all attendees will be treated to a sunset music festival, taking place at Moonlight Amphitheatre in Vista, California. The show will start at 3:30PM with all ages welcome. The seven hour band lineup will include: Katchafire, Tribal Theory, Rebel Souljahz, Stranger, Common Sense, Shoreline Rootz, Waterhouse and Muali Ola All Stars (featuring an all-star lineup of rock and blues music legends).

All proceeds from the Mauli Ola Foundation Music Festival on May 1st will go towards the 2010 Surf Experience Tour to help Cystic Fibrosis patients learn to surf.
