Congratulations Mauli Ola on Surfer Poll Win...
Description
Flexfit would like to congratulate Mauli Ola Foundation on being awarded Surfer Poll’s “Agent of Change” Award, Surfer Magazine’s highest honor. The award will be presented to Mauli Ola Foundation founders James and Charles Dunlop at the 40th annual Surfer Poll Awards, taking place on December 6th on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii.
This prestigious award is in recognition of Mauli Ola’s work to create awareness of natural saline treatment for Cystic Fibrosis through their MOF Surf Experience Day events. With Mauli Ola’s national Surf Experience Day Tour, the Foundation has been getting kids with CF out into the ocean for surfing lessons, thereby exposing them to generous amounts of saline found in the ocean and in the sea air. Concentrated saline properties at the beach have been proven to ease symptoms and stave off dangerous complications associated with CF. In getting many of the world’s most celebrated pro-surfers to take part in their Surf Experience Days, Mauli Ola has generated press and tremendous word-of-mouth for advancement in CF treatment and research, both within the surfing community and beyond.
“We are truly honored and humbled that the surf industry has recognized the importance of our mission, and the hard work of our staff and volunteers by awarding the 2010 Surfer Poll Agent of Change Award to Mauli Ola Foundation,” expressed Mauli Ola President, James Dunlop. In Dunlop’s excitement about what this award will mean for Cystic Fibrosis awareness, he continued, “We are over the moon that so many people around the world will learn about our cause and our efforts. 2011 will be a breakout year for Mauli Ola, and we are stoked that Flexfit is in our corner.”
Adds Surf Experience Director, Bobby Serna, “Being awarded the 2010 Surfer Poll Agent of Change Award is one of the highest honors that I could imagine for Mauli Ola Foundation. I’m thankful and grateful that we’ve been able to provide an immediate treatment option to Cystic Fibrosis patients with the greatest pastime of all time, surfing.”
Since 2007, Mauli Ola Foundation has been researching and implementing natural treatments for children with genetic disorders, raising community awareness for these diseases and helping to fund research for treatment advancement. “Surfing as a natural treatment for CF has raised significant awareness about this disease thanks to massive support from the Surf Industry,” asserts Dunlop. The support of celebrated pro-surfers like Buttons Kaluhiokalani, Kala Alexander, Sunny Garcia and Shawn “Barney” Barron to name just a few, have helped to raise the profile of the MOF Surf Experience Day tour.
The 40th annual Surfer Poll is presented by Samsung and Verizon Wireless and will be held at the Oahu Turtle Bay Resort. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on SurferPoll.net on December 6th, beginning at 7 PM Hawaiian time.
According to Surfer Magazine publisher Tony Perez, “The Mauli Ola Foundation has proven what those in the surf community already know, that the ocean is a special place with many healing properties.”
Concludes Bobby Serna, “This award will spark a worldwide movement for support of our Foundation and for Cystic Fibrosis. And we are stoked about Flexfit’s support. Their hats have been such a great tool for raising awareness for our cause.”
