Flexfit Supports Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer...
Heeding the call of the San Diego Police Department in their cause to help the 2010 Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk For the Cure, Flexfit pitched in by donating 50 custom embroidered hats for San Diego Police to wear on duty.
Called “the boldest breast cancer event in history,” this year’s Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure took place in San Diego, California from November 19th through the 21st with participants walking an ambitious 60 miles over a three day period. The fundraising event began with an opening ceremony at 6:30 AM on November 19th at Del Mar Fairgrounds and culminated in a closing ceremony on November 21st at San Diego’s PETCO Park.
The event had an impressive turnout with 4,000 walkers who each raised a minimum of $2300.00 towards Breast Cancer research and treatment advancement. $10.6 million in total was raised for breast cancer treatment research.
The 3-Day Walk for the Cure also had 550 volunteers who generously donated their time, including 50 members of the San Diego Police Department. Each year members of the San Diego Police Department give their time for this worthy cause by patrolling the event on bicycles and directing traffic at busy intersections, making it safe for participants to walk. “It rained two out of the three days,” said a Susan G. Komen for The Cure event coordinator. Flexfit’s donated hats helped the San Diego Police stay dry as they watched out for everyone’s safety and helped to make sure the event ran smoothly.
“The team was encouraged and outfitted by the generosity of Flexfit, and the donation of 50 hats was greatly appreciated. On behalf of the 2010 San Diego Police Department Breast Cancer 3-Day team, I wish to thank [Flexfit] for their generosity,” states Debra Farrar, Lieutenant of the San Diego Police Department’s Southern Division.
