MOF Cocoa Beach Surf Experience Gets Loyal...
Awesome weather, manageable waves and one of Florida’s top pro-surfers made for an exceptional day at Mauli Ola Foundation’s Cocoa Beach, Florida Surf Experience Day event. Florida native and legendary pro-surfer Todd Holland came down and mentored the kids while providing priceless surfing instruction. Described by Surfer Magazine as, “Easily one of the finest and most recognizable surfers from his era,” Holland was the first east coast surfer to regularly place in the top ten on the ASP World Tour.
Cocoa Beach also saw a loyal following with two families traveling across the country to be in attendance. There were six kids in total at MOF Cocoa Beach. “One family is from Hawaii and they have been coming to MOF Surf Experience Days for years. The family purposely scheduled their trip to Florida to visit with family to be at the same time as MOF’s Cocoa Beach event,” explains MOF Surf Experience Day Coordinator, Bobby Serna. “Both of their kids have CF and our events are important to them.
“Another family drove all the way from San Antonio, Texas to follow MOF to Cocoa Beach. They have a daughter with CF,” continues Serna.
The Cocoa Beach event was hosted by Ron Jon Surf School, owner of the famous Ron Jon Surf Shop, one of the largest surf shop chains in the world. Ron Jon owner Craig Carroll gave Mauli Ola the use of all of their surf boards for the event. After the surfing festivities the families, pro-surfers and MOF staff and volunteers headed to Ron Jon Surf Shop for a Flexfit signature hat and poster autograph signing to raise awareness for Mauli Ola Foundation and CF. The autograph signing featured Flexfit Signature Hats designed by Kala Alexander and Nissen Osterneck which were put on display.
Professional photographer and videographer, Pete Hodgson, supported MOF’s Surf Experience Day in Cocoa Beach by donating the use of his GoPro digital camera and mounting GoPro cameras on boards.
